Separate the essential jobs

A tea setup has three jobs: heat water, give leaves enough room to open, and make cleanup easy. One kettle and a roomy basket infuser can serve most daily teas. A collection of single-purpose brewers is optional, not a prerequisite.

If you already own a safe way to heat water, begin with the infuser. A wide stainless-steel basket that fits your usual mug is easier to clean than small mesh balls and allows leaves to circulate.

When temperature control is useful

• You regularly prepare green, white, or other teas that you prefer below boiling.
• Several people use different temperatures during the day.
• A hold-temperature function prevents repeated reheating in a busy routine.
• The display and controls are simple enough that you will actually use them.

Materials and maintenance

Check which materials touch the water, how easily the lid opens for cleaning, and whether the minimum fill suits a single cup. Hard-water areas may require frequent descaling, so a wide opening matters more than a decorative silhouette.

Skip a new kettle if your existing one heats reliably and the missing feature will not change how often you make tea. Never leave heated appliances unattended; follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions.
